Editorial design within the subject VC Project: Typography in Context, at University of Technology Sydney fall session 2022. We were to develop a magazine concept based on observing and interacting with urban typography in Sydney, and design a magazine (cover + spreads) for an issue of our choice.
Magazine Concept Statement:
"Entropy is an international urban lifestyle and design magazine that focuses on the constant wearing-out and renewal of the urban environment. Its content gives insight into urban aesthetics and connects it to topics relevant to social, economical and environmental awareness and progress. It reflects on the larger image of how the culture and environment within cities are shaped by how we live and design. The word entropy means «lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder», and represents how the urban environment is set a certain way, with certain systems and conventions, but is constantly being «worn out» and altered by how the people within it use it and interact with it. The magazine believes that sometimes messing up existing order lays the ground for development of new order, new systems and new beliefs – for progress. This is Entropy.
The issue THE CITY SPEAKS touhces upon the typographic identity of cities. How letters, words, and the design of type – both old and new – influence our everyday navigation and experience within the city."
